WRANGLER DENIM JACKET

Today, it's my Wrangler Denim Jacket.
I picked this up at a local thrift this summer. It had originally had the sleeves rolled up and they were worn through at the cuffs, I re-sewed them back and a few seams around the shoulders.

Now it's ready to roll and keep me warm on a brisk day.

Wrangler jackets are not super common as most people bought Levis or Lee, but give wrangler a shot as they're still cool vintage denim!

MAG LITE FLASHLIGHT

So today, it's my vintage Mag Lite.
I bought this new back in the early 80's and have used it since.

Growing up on a farm, It was used to check livestock, smash ice in buckets during the winter, and maybe defend the galaxy from Darth Vader from time to time...

The power button finally died this year and since it has a life-time warranty... I sent it back.

they put in a new button and what ever else had finally died after 20+ years of use.

Now it's like new, only doesn't look it. A good flashlight is a must for vintage gear guy... The Mag Lite gives a great light when you need it!

A.W. FABER CASTELL PENCILS

Today I'm showing some stuff that all guys need... a basic pencil.
So maybe these aren't your basic pencils but they are vintage and they are pencils. I found a bunch of these tins at a thrift store... and you know the rest.

It's great to have a real well made pencil. These are in different hardness's.

And a nice "pencil box" when you're done. These don't go for tons of cash, but some old vintage pencils do.. Never under estimate a pencil!

Fresh green paint... I wouldn't suggest chewing on them as they're probably real lead paint.

So pick up some fine German Pencils... you'll stand out and probably write better.

1942 MONTGOMERY WARDS CAMERA CATALOG

Today, I pulled out my 1942 Montgomery Wards Camera Catalog
This is really fun to read. Full of camera's you wish you had... especially for the price.

Some of these camera's cost just as much today or many times more.

Does that CiroFlex look familiar... I posted it earlier on my blog...

I actually owned that Cine-Kodak K for a while too...

I just love to look through old catalogs and magazines like this one... It's just fun.

WESTON MASTER II LIGHT METER

Today, it's my Weston Master II Light Meter
Before camera's could automatically set up your photos, you had to do it by yourself.

And something like this is what you used. You had to use your meter before you took your photo so it would come out alright.. photography use to be a real art and photos took time to take...

real leather case....

this door was used to expose for inside or outside, it flips up and down.

a tad blurry... Guess I need a better camera for macro... Old gear like this is cool to own and use.... makes you appreciate how they use to do stuff...

EPIPHONE LES PAUL ELECTRIC GUITAR

Today, I'll show my other guitar... this time electric.
I've always loved the Gibson, but can't afford a true one so I settled for an Epiphone, Les Paul.

But for as far as I go, it perfect.

Someday I'll have a real one... but I'm not that skilled yet so it's good to practice on this one.

an electric guitar is as guy as guy can get...

They're loads of fun to play on and really with an electric you can't sound bad not matter what...

WWII G.I. FOOT LOCKER

Today I'm showing a really special item I own.
This is my grandfathers foot locker he used during WWII.

It's really a piece of history... customized like most soldiers did back then.

Still has the original tag for the postal inspection.

Notice he went in a Captain and left a Major.

Owning something special from your family's past is a special honor. So keep what you've been given and pass it along to your children... That's part of being a vintage gear guy too....
