Today I thought I'd highlight a big item I own.

A 1954 O'Keefe & Merritt Low Back Stove. This a 40" stove with one oven, grillovator and four burners and a center grill.

When I bought this stove it was sitting in a North Hollywood garage. It was full of cobwebs but in good condition. I had it totally restored and re-enameled Cobalt Blue, and Re-Chromed.

I think it's absolutely fabulous. It cooks like nothing out there, it built like a tank and will last my life time. This was the first year for a florescent light. The 53 model was still light bulbs.

O'Keefe was manufactured in Los Angeles to order. If a house wife wanted two ovens, or two glass door or what ever she wanted, they would make. They made all sorts of models.

It would be nice if you could custom order your stove the way you wanted today.

If you're in an area that you can find one, pick one up and restore it. You'll be glad you did, because as they say, "They don't make em' like this anymore."
